Cheyenne Mountain Boo at the Zoo from October 16 to 31

The Colorado Springs-based Cheyenne Mountain Zoo hosts its annual Boo at the Zoo for seven nights starting in mid-October. This thrilling event is ideal for families seeking a safe and unique venue for trick-or-treating.

During the events, guests can tour select animal exhibits at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo until 8:30 pm while they trick-or-treat at over 20 stations. This season’s Boo at the Zoo takes place on October 16, 17, 23-25, 30 & 31, 2026, from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm. Timed e-tickets are required and can sell out, so CMZoo members get a discount.

Some of the highlights include:

  • Costume Contest — Take photos of your crew and post to Facebook/Instagram #BooCMZoo for a chance to win 4 tickets to December’s Electric Safari
  • Spooky Treat Station — More than 20 treat stations set up, with many of them offering non-food items as well.
  • Haunted House — Suggested for ages 6 years and older with parental discretion. There are strobe lights used for this at the Lodge at Moose Lake.
  • Select Animal Exhibits — See some of your favorite animals during Boo at the Zoo
  • Light Pumpkins — located in My Big Backyard
  • Pirate’s Cove — inside Australia Walkabout
  • Spooky Graveyard — located at Water’s Edge: Africa
  • Sky Ride — last ride at 8 pm, be in line by 7:30 pm, $3 per ride, per person
  • Carousel — $2 per ride, per person
  • Giraffe feeding — $3 per lettuce bundle, $5 for two
  • Budgie feeding — $1 per stick

Select restaurants and the gift shop will be open.

Costume Requirements:

For the safety of all guests, costume masks and costume weapons may not be worn by guests 12 years of age or older. Masks worn by guests 11 years of age and younger must have openings that allow the eyes to be seen and that do not obstruct peripheral vision. Balloons are not allowed inside the Zoo (even as part of a costume) for the safety of our animals and wild animals. Guests are encouraged to join our Costume Contest, but please ensure your costume follows these guidelines.
