Durango Adventures offers zip lining, axe throwing and a variety of recreation only minutes from downtown Durango off Highway 160. It’s located on a mountainside forest overlooking the San Juan Mountains and the scenic town of Durango.
In addition to year round zip line tours and tossing axes, you can climb the 45 foot Adventure Tower, raft the whitewater on the Animas River, or rent some RZR/ATVs and go off roading.
​Zip Line Canopy Tour

There are 12 zip lines you can enjoy, as well as the Adventure Tower. All take you high and flying through a Ponderosa Pine forest. All tours include snacks and drinks. The longer tour lets you choose your finale: either a 45 foot jump off the tower, or zipline directly onto the rooftop patio.
You must weight below 230 pounds and be 4 years or older.
- 12 Zip Line – 12 ziplines, and a tree-top to tree-top adventure, 15 minute uphill hike, 2.5-3 hours,
- 6 Zip Line Tour – 6 ziplines, 1.5-2 hour experience, 10 minute uphill hike
Axe Throwing
This is Colorado’s only outdoor axe throwing operation. They have 4 regulation-sized cages, located one mile outside downtown. They provide the axes and instruction, and you can bring your own drinks. Minimum age is 10.
RZR/ATV 4×4
Ditch the highway and hit the remote mountain trails. Rent either a 2, 4, or 6-person Razor. These all terrain vehicles are ready to meet you at the trailhead. There are 2 tour timers per day for the 2 and 4 hour tour, and 1 morning tour for the 6 hour slot. You can combine a 2 or 4 hour tour with a 12 or 6 zip line tour.

Whitewater Rafting
Take a half day/4 hour or full day rafting trip on the Animas River via inflatable boat. In addition to group rafts they have Inflatable Kayak that you can rent. You’ll hit class 1-3 rapids, flowing thru the Durango Whitewater Park. Get the lunch tour and stop halfway for a Texas style BBQ.
Hour on the Tower
Multiple climbing features exist on this 45 foot high tower. Do a traditional rope climb or tackle the climbing ladder. There’s also a ladder option. Once at the top, experience the free fall option. Max 230 lbs.
Mesa Verde Guided Tour
There are two guided tours, either a half day or full day. Both are led by passionate and knowledgeable local guides and arrive at the park’s Visitor Center at 9am . Tours include transportation to/from Durango and admission fees at the park including entrance and Ranger Guided Tours. The Full Day Tour also includes a deli style lunch. Experience the magic of Mesa Verde National Park year round less than an hour from Durango.
