[Hockey in Aspen. Photo: Michael S] The Lewis Ice Arena is the only skating rink open year round, including summer, in Aspen. Completed in 2003, it’s located just inside the Aspen Recreation Center.
It follows the NHL standards, having an official 200 feet by 85 feet rink. It can seat up to 500, and has all the necessary amenities like locker rooms and rentals, shower rooms, skate rentals, skate sharpening services and vending machines/snack bars. Programs offered include public skating, figure skating and ice hockey.
The Lewis Ice Arena is home to Aspen’s annual figure skating displays and hockey league games. Private events such as birthday or corporate parties can be booked as well.
