The Salida Whitewater Park features several manmade features on the Arkansas River, used for kayaking, rafting and tubing. It’s located in the state’s largest historic district, downtown Salida.
There are four whitewater wave features, and usually two big holes, which vary in size depending on water level and season. Being at over 7,000 feet means the water is always cold. Wear proper gear and please be cautious.
Some intertubing is done when the water level is appropriate. You can check water levels here.
The oldest whitewater festival in America, FibArk, is held every June.
