Opened in 1972, The Citadel enclosed shopping mall in Colorado Springs hosts a wide variety of specialty boutiques, department stores and appetizing eateries for the whole family. Located at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, it’s also a great place for enjoying a mountain peak backdrop from the parking lot.
Over 130 storefronts across three mall levels means there’s something for everybody, including fun and educational activities for kids. Shopping at the Citadel is a great way to burn some calories (via three levels of leisurely walking) while taking advantage of countless special promotions throughout the center.
Shopping – Anchor stores at The Citadel include Burlington Coat Factory, Dillard’s and JCPenney. For men’s and women’s fashion, this mall has many options including Buckle, Gen X Clothing, Notorious and Vans. Popular jewelry stores here include Helzberg Diamonds and Kay Jewelers.
Beauty and spa products can be found at Bath & Body Works. Specialty shops like Colorado Souvenirs and Memory Lane are great stops for gifts and tourist trinkets.
Dining – The food court at The Citadel features lots of plants and trees in its decor, creating a very appealing setting for a meal and rest from all that great mall walking. Mainly offering popular convenience food fare, the food court provides a decent selection of choices including burgers, chicken, pizza, hibachi and wings.
Dining is also available on the main level of the mall, separate from the food court, at eateries like Steak & Bake, Gyros Plus and Hooters.
Entertainment – Entertainment in this shopping center is mostly kid-focused, but Glow Golf is fun for the whole family with neon lighting around indoor miniature golf courses.
For hands-on educational activities for kids who love science, math and technology, check out iSpace Celebration Place. Fun4Kidz is a pay-to-play colorful indoor playground for children and even babies, with various themed events and available for birthday party bookings
Motorized stuffed animal scooters can be rented for kids at Zoo Rides. And a Soft Play Area (near Burlington Coat Factory) has soft seating for parents and a plush playing area for children.
