Th Two Buttes mountain is located in Prowers County, roughly 30 miles away from Lamar. At 4,711 feet, this mountain has the highest point in the county, although it’s also one of the state’s lowest highpoints.
While the peaks aren’t the same height, being that the southern one is about 30 feet taller, the two summits offer brilliant scenic views of the area, and on a clear day, one is able to see for miles in every direction. There is also a 300-foot saddle between each peak, helping the mountain stand out from its surrounding flat landscape.
Hiking
Uphill hiking in southeastern Colorado is pretty rare, making Two Buttes Mountain a particularly special area in Prowers County. According to those who have summited Two Buttes, the 0.8-mile trail to the top takes the average hiker roughly 15 minutes and is comfortable enough for children to accomplish.
