Durango Nordic Center

Durango Nordic Center features twenty kilometers of groomed trails for both classical and skate skiing. Separate snowshoe trails are provided too.

Durango Nordic Center San Juan Mountains — San Juan Mountains.

Rentals include classical, skate skiing and snowshoes. And for those looking to improve quickly, there are ski lessons. A combination lesson, rental and trail ticket is available.

They regularly hold races and clinics there. Races include several nordic events, as well as snowshoe 5 and 10K’s. Ski clinics are open to all levels and include a women’s only event.

Children will enjoy the Snowburner Programs aimed to teach cross country skiing through fun and games. There are two weekly programs that run from January to February, on either Sunday or Monday.

Another trend on the trails is fat tire biking, which are permitted on the cross country track. Bikers are asked to use the firmest part of the snow and not ride on or in the classic tracks, which are two parallel lines carved into the trail.

The Nordic Center is located at Purgatory Ski Area. It’s open every day from 9am to 4pm.
