Seven kilometers of beautifully groomed Nordic skating and flat-track skiing are waiting for you at the Top of the Pines Nordic Skiing. Situated on Sneffels Range’s foot in Southwest Colorado, this 175-acre area is a pearl in the wilderness. It is the ideal place to explore San Juan’s beauty.

Outdoor recreational opportunities are offered to guests, families or individuals. Plus, a new snowshoe trail can be seen from the parking area on to the meadow. These trails are open anytime from dawn until dusk.
Experience the gorgeous outdoor recreation area, open space preserve, and education base camp. After enjoying a day at the trails, a rustic warming hut situated upslope of the main building pavilion is within the campground area. Feel free to rest and recharge while warming tea, water or coffee on the stove.
If you are to bring your vehicles, please note that parking is limited within the trailhead’s dedicated parking area. Do not go to the Highland Drive roadway beyond the parking lot trail head.
Bringing your furry pets is not advisable as tracks allowed on the groomed trails are only from wild animals and skiers, although they are permitted on select days. Top of the Pines aims to preserve its open space as well as the natural habitat of its wildlife. Kids aged 16 and below must similarly be accompanied by a responsible adult.
