The 16-foot-tall, Christ of the Mines Shrine was sculpted in 1959. This big statue overlooks the town of Silverton from five hundred feet up Anvil Mountain.

The sculpture was originally created as a way to hopefully resurrect Silverton’s waning mining industry. Visitors can access the Christ of the Mines Shrine year-round, and get a feeling of the faith the miners had in Jesus Christ.
