Activities
Birding: Hundreds of bird species are observed around Rio Blanco Lake. The Colorado Birding Trail passes through this state wildlife area.
Camping: The boat launch at Rio Blanco allows for powerboating on the water. While camping is only allowed in designated areas on a first-come-first-serve basis, the sites offer excellent access to outdoor activities within the wildlife area.
Fishing: Fishing is permitted and past visitors have reviewed this SWA as an excellent area to cast a line. The minimum size for smallmouth bass and largemouth bass is 15”, and only one northern pike that’s longer than 35” per day is permitted.
Hunting: Big game archery hunting is allowed at Rio Blanco Lake SWA and is restricted to rabbits and waterfowl, with the Roselund unit being only for day use.
