Silverton’s community gem, Kendall Mountain Recreation Area, offers a variety of winter fun, including cross country and downhill skiing, as well as ice skating, sledding and snowshoeing. And feel free to sled, skate, snowshoe, and cross-country ski anytime at any hours.
The town’s Kendall Mountain Recreation Area is open all the time, conditions permitting, and is free of charge. The Silverton Town Loop features 2.5 miles of cross country ski trails. This groomed loop circles the town, offering picturesque alpine and village views.
Cross country skiing and snowshoeing
Touted as the West’s “Cheapest Ski area”, the Kendall Mountain Ski area offers first-rate skiing experiences. The 950-foot rope ski lift is open from 11 in the morning to four in the afternoon on Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Expect more than two hundred feet of vertical drop, numerous tree runs, a terrain park, double chair lift, and four smoothly groomed trails at Ski Kendall’s Kendall Mountain.
This sledder’s paradise also offers a slope that is gentle for kids. Those who crave for a bit of adventure can take advantage of the tubing hill. Don’t forget to bring your own sled and be prepared to hike up for some old-fashioned fun. There’s also an outdoor ice rink.
