Monarch Dog Sled Rides is a small, family-run operation based in Salida that hosts private and personalized dog sled tours. Choose between sitting comfortably in the sled or taking the rein and leading your own team with a guide. With a max weight limit of 1000 lbs, 6 adults can enjoy the ride.
Dog Sled Tour
Go on a private tour with a team of dogs led by an experienced guide through the San Isabel National Forest. Tours depart four times a day at 9 am, 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm, except after daylight savings when the hours of operation change. Prices fluctuate according to the sled size and time of year you plan to make your reservation.
The tour takes about 1.5 hours which includes meeting the dogs, learning about mushing, harnessing the huskies, and riding through the forest. Refunds will not be given due to snowy weather unless they simply cannot run the tour, so if you’re planning to take one of Monarch’s tours, be sure to check the weather in advance.
Monarch Dog Sled Ride also allows retired dogs to be adopted. The owners will gladly talk to you and get you on the list for one of their furry team members.
