Since 1989, Mountain Musher has been providing the best dog sledding the Vail Valley. The trail they run is in Wolcott, about ten miles west of Beaver Creek.
Two tours depart daily, morning and afternoon, with two guests riding in each sled, driven by a guide. There are up to six sleds per trip with up to sixty dogs on a six mile tour. It takes a little less than two hours.
The trail leads you through Aspen glades and evergreens, past fox, coyote, deer and elk. A “musher” or driver stands behind you and controls the team of dogs. At the halfway point, guests can enjoy homemade pumpkin bread and hot cocoa.
Children must be at least 4 years old and no pregnant women are permitted. There is a 400 pound limit per sled. Please dress warmly, with waterproof ski pants and jacket, gloves, winter boots and goggles.
Transportation is provided from both Vail and Beaver Creek resorts, for both the morning and afternoon tours. The Mountain Musher dogs have been featured on “Colorado Getaways”, “The Learning Channel”, and “The Today Show”.
