The Beaumont Hotel located in Ouray is included in the United States National Register of Historic Places. Furthermore, it also has the Governor’s Award for Historic Preservation and a Preserve America Presidential Award for Historic Preservation.

Historic Luxury 4-Star Hotel in Downtown

The construction of the hotel was completed in 1886 and had its grand opening on July 25, 1887. During its prime, the Beaumont Hotel was one of the most impressive hotels in Western Colorado and even welcomed distinguished guests like Presidents Theodore Roosevelt and Herbert Hoover. However, it was forced to close in 1967 but not for lack of tourism.

The owner at the time had a dispute with the city over parking and closing the hotel was her way of trying to get her way – it didn’t work. And for almost 40 years, the hotel sat empty and abandoned on the Main Street of Ouray. Fortunately, the historic building was bought in 1998 and underwent major reconstruction and renovation, opening its doors in 2003.
