“Heart of the Rockies History” – Salida Museum showcases items and exhibits from the town’s rich past. It’s situated in Centennial Park.
Artifacts and exhibits include railroad history, clothing, household goods and other staples of western life.
Denver & Rio Grande Railroad made it to Salida in 1880. The city soon sprang up as a major supply center, with railroads going northwest to Leadville and Salt Lake City, west to Gunnison, and south to Alamosa.
The museum is located next to Salida Hot Springs on Highway 50.
