Explore Leadville’s scenic landscape on the Leadville Colorado & Southern Railroad. Leadville was one of the leading mining towns during the boom, due in part to the railroad.
The trip takes you an additional 1,000 feet above the already high valley floor (Leadville sits at 10,200 ft!). It tracks along the Continental Divide through the San Isabel National Forest. Spectacular panoramas of the Arkansas River Valley await around every turn.
The conductor fascinates passengers with stories of Leadville’s past, including ghost tales and railroad history. Passengers may bring a picnic lunch and eat on the train. There is no food served on board. Guests also have a chance to meet the engineer and take a tour of the caboose and engine.
