If you’re looking for an exciting, alternative hobby to do this weekend, you can check out the Downtown Art Gallery and Axe Room, DAGAR, in Denver, Colo. This place introduces everyone to the art of axe throwing.
It’s supposed to be a simple concept: get an axe and throw it at the target. However, people who have tried it attest to the thrill of the game (especially those who join in the axe throwing competition).
The target is about 36 inches and the goal is to hit the bull’s eye. There’s also scoring for each throw. A player to gets to throw five times and the maximum score for each set is 25.
DAGAR Axe Throwing in Downtown Denver
Dagar offers to book for groups, individual coaching for three hours and custom schedule request. The business prides itself for being a veteran-owned and operated SME. The founders have served in the U.S. Marine Corps and the U.S. Army before meeting each other in a finance school. A few years later, Dagar was formed out of their own passion for community building and axe throwing.
Dagar’s Denver location is its very first branch and they have hopes of opening up new doors all over Colorado. Aside from axe throwing, people can also come in at Dagar and just watch other enthusiasts enjoy the sport. The place also offers beer and art in this location so it’s definitely a great place to hang out and chill.
Dagar is also open for collaboration with local artists. The owners noted that they want to give a platform for artists “who haven’t yet reached the stage where they’re represented by a traditional gallery” and would like to use Dagar’s community for exposure. Though Dagar opens its arms to artists, they note that they “don’t intend to ever be” an official gallery.
They just wanted to be a part of the community and become a “stepping stone” for promising artists around Denver. So, if you’re into beer, axe throwing or arts, check out Dagar today!
