Vail Nordic Center offers a range of beginner and advanced terrain at the base of the magnificent Gorge Range. Cross-country skiers can access 17 kilometers of trails, while snowshoers have access to a separate ten kilometers.
The cross-country ski trails are shared by snowshoers as well if you’re looking to take it slower. You can rent both pieces of equipment on-site.
Cross-country skiing in the Vail Valley
Trails – Brick Hill Trail is a favorite, which leads you east along Gore Creek out to the Beaver Ponds. There’s a free town bus that runs regularly from Vail Village to the Nordic Center. It’s also free to park there if you’re using the trails.
Retail Shop – Three kinds of skis are rented: classic, skate, and backcountry, in addition to Rossignol demo skis. They also rent snowshoes and sleds to pull the kids. The retail shop sells a full line of skis, waxes, and apparel. Fresh-made soups and snacks are available inside.
Special Events – Fun events occur throughout the season, with everything from races and skate lessons to a free demo day and Nordic Ski Swap. They are a PSIA Member Ski School, with beginner, private, and master programs.
While in the Vail Valley, spend a day downhill skiing at the legendary Vail Ski Resort. It’s the biggest ski area in the state, offering more than 5000 skiable acres.
