The Juniper Mountain House is a small adults-0nly hotel and event space on ten wooded acres in Evergreen, just 30 minutes from downtown Denver. Enjoy world-class access to top-notch activities all year, from the property’s private hiking trails to nearby skiing areas, water sports, and mountain biking.
Only two of the rooms on the site are dog-friendly. There is a fixed charge if you reserve one of these and bring your pet along. For any booking canceled less than 48 hours before the scheduled arrival date, the guest will be charged the equivalent of one night’s hotel and tax.
History
Will and Jackie Thompson, a Scottish couple, founded the then-called Royal Scot Bed & Breakfast 25 years ago. Even though the building has changed hands and names (such as Ashley House and Mountain Bounty Bed & Breakfast) since then, it still has the same homey mountain feel and charm that it did when it was first built.
Amenities
Wi-Fi is free in the lobby, guest rooms, lounge, and patio at Juniper Mountain House. Spend your time in the woods relaxing in the hot tub, sitting around the gas fire pit, watching a movie, or listening to music with friends and family. Use the property’s complimentary amenities, including the parking, sun deck, and board games.
There’s also an Honor Bar, where you serve yourself an alcoholic beverage. You’ll just write down your selection and pay for it upon checking out.
Lodging
There are five cozy bedrooms at Juniper Mountain House, and they’re all unique. The larger, pet-friendly rooms on the first floor (Boxelder and Evergreen) are next to the lounge and patio, while the smaller rooms on the second floor (Aspen, Ponderosa Pine, and Blue Spruce) have great views of the mountains.
Each room features a private bathroom stocked with complimentary toiletries and towels, a hair dryer, an ironing board, and cable TV. Mini-fridges and gas fireplaces are in some rooms. The room options are:
Aspen Corner King – This room is the most spacious and private loft accommodation. The Aspen Corner King, so named for Colorado’s iconic golden-yellow alpine trees, features a gas fireplace, soaring ceilings, pine planks, and breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains. This room is located in a corner of the building and has large windows that bring in plenty of natural light.
Ponderosa Pine Queen – Relax in the Ponderosa Pine Queen, located on the lodge’s second floor, and gaze out at the tree-covered mountains. This room features a medium-firm memory foam mattress, a comfortable seating place to kick up your feet, and plenty of fresh air with the windows. Wrapping you in the coziness of home, this modest room has a touch of alpine grandeur thanks to the plush textiles and rich textures.
Blue Spruce King – Though it’s the tiniest of the lodge’s accommodations, the Blue Spruce King offers a breathtaking panorama of the forests and its famous golden sunsets. The room has a comfy lounging area, a huge window for fresh air, and a firm memory foam mattress. Offering a homey environment, this modest room has a touch of luxury thanks to the plush textiles.
Evergreen Deluxe King – The Evergreen Deluxe King features fantastic mountain views and is one of two rooms on the ground floor, close to the common areas. It is dog-friendly and has a king-size bed with fluffy cushions, a private bathroom, and seating space. Because of its bistro table and chairs, sofa, and small vintage fridge, this room at Juniper is the best option for extended visits.
Boxelder King Junior Suite – The Boxelder King Junior Suite is the largest pet-friendly and private ground-floor accommodation in the lodge. Comfortable memory foam bedding, a massive flat-screen TV, and a small fridge are just some of the amenities in this room. This area opens up to the deck below, where you’ll find a hot tub, a fire pit, and spectacular views of the surrounding mountains and forest through the patio doors.
