As one of the highest public gardens in the United States, this Eagle County gem is a prime place to see alpine flowers. Located in Vail, Colorado at 8200 feet above sea level, the Betty Ford Alpine Gardens’ mission is to educate and protect the mountain environment.
They have a large living plant collection open to visitors throughout the year. Visit both the Education Center and Alpine House to learn more.
Education Center and Alpine House
Nestled under the Gore Range along Gore Creek, one of the highlights is the Education Center. Various informative displays and activities are always there. Each year they host a new exhibit to entertain and educate the public on the alpine environment. They also have a regular speaker series and workshops.
Head over to the Alpine House to see plants from all around the world. It’s open all year long to drop-in visitors of all ages. Spanish translation is offered too.
