The Poudre River Whitewater Park is one of the best places for paddling in Northern Colorado. Passing through the city of Fort Collins, tubing, kayaking, stand up paddleboarding, and even river surfing is popular on the Poudre River.
Situated to the north of Fort Collins’ historic Old Town by N. College Ave and East Vine Drive, the free Poudre River Park is a fun place to connect with nature throughout the year. Paddling sports are most popular from late spring through summer, when the waves and water are at their highest.
Tubing, Kayaking, and River Surfing
As mentioned, tubing and kayaking on the main activities here for all ages. You’ll also see some river surfers and stand up paddleboards. The park has no rental facilities on-site, but there are nearby shops where you rent boating and safety gear such as tubes, kayaks, helmets, and life vests.
The Poudre River Whitewater Park helped bring this body of water back to a more natural state and improved the floodplain. There is easy access from downtown to the beautiful Cache La Poudre River and an accessible riverbank. An overlook plaza and a pedestrian bridge
Two manmade drop structures are located in the river, ensuring more consistent whitewater for kayakers and tubers. They create waves at 200 CFS (cubic feet per second) and greater. There’s an overlook plaza at the site too. The Poudre Trail is connected to Poudre River Park via a pedestrian bridge.
While there aren’t any flush toilets available at the park, the parking lot contains a changing room and porter-potty.
