Once Evergreen Lake freezes over for the season, usually in December, ice fishing and skating take over the lake. There’s no fee to fish the lake, as long as you have a fishing license, and parking is free.

Evergreen features a large lake that freezes over each winter. It’s easy to access from I-70, Highway 285 or another scenic drive in from Morrison. It’s open to both ice skating and ice fishing.

The Lake House is open every day during the main ice skating season from mid December through beginning of March. Both live bait and artificial lures are permitted. Fishing is open sunrise to sunset.

You’ll need an auger (affiliate link), fishing rod, bait, fishing license and plenty of warm clothes to go ice fishing.

Evergreen Lake is located adjacent to downtown, which offers plenty of restaurants to warm up in after your day. Parking is available at either at the Evergreen Lake House or at a small lot on Highway 74.
