Designated in 1979, Indian Springs Trace Fossil Site is probably the greatest example of trace fossils in North America for representing the historic Ordovician species. The markings and movements of these animals is on full display here.
The site is located on the Indian Springs Ranch Campground, and the owners do offer public tour. It’s situated along the Gold Belt Tour, a national scenic byway through some of Colorado’s most fascinating mining country.
