Lake City Auto provides year round fun in secluded Hinsdale County. Rent a Jeep or ATV in the summer or take a winter snowmobile tour. It’s easy to access Lake City Auto walking distance from its charming downtown.
Snowmobiling Tours
Guided snowmobile tours are led by full-time volunteer members of Hinsdale County Search and Rescue, Hinsdale EMS and Lake City Fire/Rescue. Single and double rider tours are available. Trips begin at 9am and run until 4:30pm, daily during the season, weather permitting.
There are a total of 125 miles of groomed snowmobile trails by Lake City. Ride 50-60 miles over Slumgullion or take a trip to Arrowhead Lodge and grab a hot meal. Dress warmly like you would if you’re going, with ski pants and jacket, goggles, gloves and winter hat.
ATV Rentals
ATVs and Side x Sides can be rented daily beginning Memorial Day weekend, dependent on weather. Discounts are provided for multi-day use. Two, four and six passenger vehicles are available. Helmets, a spot tracker and a map are provided with all rentals. Driver’s must be 21+ with a valid driver’s license to rent ATV.
Jeep Rentals
Rent a Jeep during the summer and cruise over the Alpine Loop. This is the only 4×4 road that’s designated national scenic byway in Colorado. It connects the old mining towns of Lake City, Creed and Ouray, via the Cinnamon Pass at 12,640 feet and Engineer Pass at 12,800 feet.
Beginning Memorial Day weekend, conditions provided depending on snow melt, you can rent out hard-top two-door and four-door Jeep Wranglers, daily. Discounts are offered for three days or more. Drivers must be at least 23 years old with drivers license and insurance.
