Elbert is a tiny rural community located about an hour southeast of Denver. The population was only 230 in 2010.
The census-designated placed (CDP) was named after Elbert County, where it resides. There has been a post office in use since 1875, with zip code 80106. Although Elbert resides on the eastern plains, it resides at a higher elevation of 6,715 feet.
