Starting in 2026, Canyon Spirit will take over the Rockies To The Red Rocks route, currently operated by Rocky Mountaineer. This unique route connects Denver, Colorado, and Salt Lake City, Utah, with overnight stays in Glenwood Springs and/or Moab.
In 2025, you can ride the Rockies to the Red Rocks line through Rocky Mountaineer. This luxury train connects Denver to Moab, Utah, with additional options to start/end in Salt Lake City or Las Vegas.
Train Ride: Rockies To The Red Rocks
The route from Denver begins to follow the Colorado River soon after it reaches the western side of the Continental Divide. Wildlife is abundant on your journey. You’ll experience everything from high mountains and alpine forests to the famous canyonlands and giant red rocks of Utah.

Two-Day: Denver – Glenwood Springs – Moab
This is a fantastic route through the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Starting in Denver at Union Station, you’ll spend a night in a hotel in Glenwood Springs. Once at your destination of Moab, you can choose to stay there as long as you wish to experience all the city has to offer as a gateway to Arches and Canyonlands national parks.
Three-Day: Denver – Glenwood Springs – Moab – Salt Lake City
The three-day itinerary piggybacks off the two-day itinerary. After your night in Glenwood Springs, you’ll spend 1 night in a hotel in Moab, before continuing to Salt Lake City. See dramatic sandstone cliff faces, secluded ghost towns, and the ascent of a mountain pass. This is terrific for folks seeking to spend time in Salt Lake City, a bustling capital city and transportation hub.
Packages: There are multiple two-day and three-day packages, as well as bespoke rail packages that span 6 to 8 days. The packages allow you to add hotel stays in your departure and destination cities, or just those en route. Bespoke packages give you the chance to continue to Las Vegas, Nevada, or return to Denver from Moab, adding additional nights in each city.
