Perched high in the sky, rooftop bars are an exceptional way to take in the sights and sounds of Denver, Colorado. A few are located around the metropolitan area, with one stand-out bar that rises above them all.

Head up to the rooftop for your next happy hour or night on the town. Let’s look at the best spots in Denver to toast your glass at elevation and set your gaze on the horizon.

Halo Rooftop Bar

Experience the unique ambiance of Halo Rooftop Bar, Denver.

Halo is the highest open-air rooftop bar in the city and one of the only few that is open in the winter. It’s located within the Kimpton Claret Hotel in the Belleview Station neighborhood, of the Denver Tech Center. Take the Belleview exit of I-25. Then head on up to the 19th floor to discover the unobstructed Rocky Mountain views from Halo.

This combination indoor/outdoor space is open year-round with heated fireplaces to elevate the ambiance. Soak in the scenery, as you overlook Greenwood Village and the Cherry Creek Reservoir. The indoor lounge hosts live entertainment four nights per week, while the outdoor terrace is perfect for a date night or after-work refreshment.

Even inside the views are spectacular through large glass doors and windows. It’s open seven days per week starting at 2 pm on the weekends and 4 pm on weekdays. Live music is featured Wednesday through Saturday with rotating artists.

A menu of sharable plates is offered and you can reserve private dining here as well by contacting sales@clarethotel.com. Happy hour is every day from 4 to 6 pm.

The newest addition to Halo is the Sky Lodge. It’s a private dining experience that accepts just one reservation time per day. This allows you and your guests to savor the sunset and spend more time under the stars.

Inside this glass “greenhouse” are 180-degree views of the surrounding sights. Blankets and heaters are provided and there is a private outdoor fireplace for groups.

You can reserve the Sky Lodge at Halo for groups of 4 to 10. There is a food and beverage minimum and 20% gratuity added to all checks.

If you need a luxurious place to stay for the night, book a room at the 4-star Kimpton Claret Hotel.

The Viewhouse Eatery, Bar & Rooftop is a popular local chain of restaurants around the Colorado front range. Given its name, you can expect stellar views from any one of its locations, of which there are four:

  1. Ballpark
  2. Centennial
  3. Littleton
  4. Colorado Springs

Its only location in the Denver city limits is in the Ballpark neighborhood, within walking distance and eyesight of Coors Field. This is Viewhouse’s flagship location, opened in March 2013 at 20th and Market Streets.

In addition to a long lineup of tasty food, beers, wines, and cocktails, the Viewhouse boasts lawn games, such as volleyball and cornhole bag toss. They even host live music and events like yoga. It’s a crowded bar during weekends and game days, so head there early to secure your seat with a view.

While the Peaks 27th Floor Lounge isn’t an open-air rooftop bar, it’s perched high up in the 8th tallest building in Downtown Denver, the Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center. The views of the front range mountains and surrounding metropolitan area are striking from the many massive windows.

This indoor bar and lounge features a great menu of shareable plates, sushi, ramen, and desserts. They serve finely made cocktails with organic garnishes and a nice lineup of wine and beer. If you’re craving something more after your drinks you can head to the Former Saint Craft Kitchen & Taps located inside the Hyatt Regency Denver at the Colorado Convention Center.

Like the aforementioned Halo Rooftop Bar housed in the Kimpton Claret Hotel, if you want to savor the scenery longer, you can reserve a room at the Hyatt Regency Denver, a 4-star hotel.
