With the fall season already sitting well and the air getting colder each day, it’s the perfect time for a chili cook-off. It’s the time of year when we could all use a cupful of hot chili and a few mugs of beer to warm ourselves up.
The Golden Chamber of Commerce & Coors Distributing Company presents the annual Golden Chili Cook-Off & Beer Tasting festival to be held in the busy yet beautiful Parfet Park in Golden on TBD 2025 (last event: Saturday, October 19, 2024).
A portion of the funds raised will go towards the Golden Chamber of Commerce’s Scholarship Fund for Golden High School and St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
This festival features the best chili creations from dozens of restaurants as well as individual participants. This is definitely your go-to event for your chili cravings. Red, green, white, vegetarian, buffalo, and other chili varieties you may have never heard of are certainly going to be there. Name it, they will surely have it.
If you’re looking for one single occasion to taste over 90 different beers, then you should not miss this opportunity. Along with some silent auctions, there are going to be some live bands playing too. Now that is unquestionably one killer combo!
Chili Cook Sampling, Judging, and Awards
Chili cooks will be asked to submit a sample of chili for blind judging, which will be done by a panel of volunteer judges. Criteria will be based on the chili’s aroma, consistency, color, taste, and aftertaste.
Judges will select the winners for Red, Green, and Other. Ribbons and Golden Chamber Bucks will be awarded for 1st and 2nd places for each category in the Restaurant and Non-Restaurant categories. There are also special awards, such as the People’s Choice and Showmanship Awards.
Tickets and Passes
Tickets can be purchased in advance for Chili only or Chili and Beer. Door tickets are available for an additional fee. All ages are welcome, however, attendees with a Chili & Beer ticket are required to present a valid ID indicating they are over the age of 21 at the entrance.
