Unfortunately, the historic Goldminer Hotel in Nederland has closed. Please check out some other hotels in Nederland for your stay near Eldora Resort.

When you stayed at The Goldminer Hotel in Nederland, you were right in the middle of the Eldora Historic District, just a few minutes walk from skiing and hiking in the wilderness. The hotel looked the same as when it was first constructed in the winter of 1897 and was included on the National Register of Historic Places a century later, in 1997.

Amenities

The 3,900-square-foot property had a nice lobby and a farm-style kitchen where guests could prepare their meals if they liked. The Goldminer Hotel’s Social Room was a big space that could be used for many different things. It could be utilized for weddings, meetings, educational events, potlucks, and other small-town activities. Evening drinks were offered for guests who wanted to relax on-site.

You could choose to include a full breakfast for everyone as an extra perk if you didn’t want to use the communal kitchen.

Room Types

In the beginning, the hotel had thirteen small sleeping rooms on the second floor for tired miners and a large dining area on the first floor. Later, there were just five bedrooms and four bathrooms spread out throughout the building. Each of the rooms could be booked on its own, but large parties had the chance to reserve the whole hotel for more significant gatherings.

In-room features included satellite television with DVD players, free Wi-Fi, and comfortable bedding. The individual rooms were:

The Spencer – This room was on the second floor and shared a bathroom with The Divide. This was a terrific place to stay in the fall because it had a window with a beautiful view of aspen tree groves.

The Divide – The Divide was located on the west side of the hotel and shared a bathroom with The Spencer. Like the other rooms at the Goldminer, this room was decorated with antiques and overlooked the continental divide, which was just six miles away.

Mountain Sweet – From the Mountain Sweet room, you could look in different directions to view the sunrise in the east, the continental divide in the west, and Mineral Mountain in the north. The room slept up to four people with a king-sized bed and bunk beds in a connected space.

The First Floor – This room had an attached bathroom, shower, and private entrance. It was set up with a king-sized bed and a wood-burning stove. The fact that there was no need to use the stairs was a perk for some people.

The Eldorado – This room comfortably slept two and had a private bathroom. Natural light from the sunrise shone in the east window, allowing guests to awaken with the day.

Nearby Activities

Around the hotel area, there was plenty to do outdoors, from hiking to biking, wildlife viewing, taking photographs, and stargazing at night. In the Nederland region, more forms of entertainment included local shops and restaurants, with even more options in Boulder, about 30 minutes away.

In the summer, there were great trails in town for motorcycling on the Peak to Peak Scenic and Historic Byway or playing some tennis. Other sports like tubing, cross-country skiing, ice skating, and snowshoeing were available in the winter.
