See what it was like to live in Western Colorado from the 1880s to the 1940s at the Museum Of The Mountain West. There are over a dozen original buildings at the museum, and you can go inside many of them.
All tours are guided by knowledgeable staff and take about 2 hours. Over 500,000 artifacts can be found in store and office displays. Among the buildings, highlights include an old saloon and general store, both stocked with many original items from life back in the day.
A gift shop offers a wide selection of souvenirs for people of all ages. Items range from $1 to $3,000, with many antiques for sale as well.
The 1913 German Lutheran Church building is also available for rent. Popular events include weddings, banquets, seminars, concerts, and holiday parties.
It’s located just east of downtown Montrose. The Montrose County Historical Museum is another museum in town.
