Stratton is a small eastern plains town with a population of 656 in 2020. It’s a Statutory Town that resides at an elevation of 4,413 feet, not too far from the Kansas border.

The town was incorporated on April 15th, 1917. Winfield Scott Stratton, a famed local gold miner and philanthropist was the reason for the town’s name. There are a few businesses in this quiet, rural town of Kit Carson County. Limon is the biggest city nearby, located an hour west via I-70. Denver is just under 3 hours west on I-70 from Stratton.
