The Francisco Fort Museum in La Veta hosts the Ute Mountain Ute Cultural Day on Saturday, July 26th. This single-day event in Southern Colorado is free and fun for everyone.
The Ute Mountain Ute Cultural Day is happening in La Veta, tucked away at the base of the Spanish Peaks, a 3-hour drive south of Denver. The event kicks off with a Pancake Breakfast at the Francisco Fort Museum in the historic plaza, followed by demonstrations, activities, singing, and dancing.

All events are free and open to the public. Things kick off on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 7:30 am and run until 5 pm.
Schedule:
- 7:30 am Pancake Breakfast sponsored by the First United Methodist Church
- Accompanied by the Orphan Valley Singers (donations to benefit the Francisco Fort Museum)
- 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Fort Museum Open, Live Blacksmith demonstration, and other activities. Games for kids
- 1:00 pm & 4:00 pm Reggie Lopez and his dancers and singers from the Ute Mountain Ute Tribe will be performing.
