Located in Grand Lake, the Winding River Resort is a family campground with horseback riding, surrounded by Rocky Mountain National Park, the Colorado River, and the Arapahoe National Forest. Spend the night in the great outdoors in style, whether you want to rent a cozy cabin or park your RV in one of the numerous wide campsites.
See all Mother Nature has to offer by hiking, snowmobiling, or taking a horseback ride right in this mountainous camping area. Anglers and boaters enjoy time on the water on three nearby lakes, including Grand Lake.
At the campground, it’s not uncommon to see a square dancing session, and Cowboy Church meets along the river every Sunday. Young people love activities like disc golf and playing on playground equipment. After a day of exploring the Rockies, wind down with a crackling fire at night.
Summer Horseback Rides and Winter Sleigh Rides

Pony rides, hayrides, and trail rides are available for an additional fee from Memorial Day until the end of September. From around the middle of December until about the middle of January, you can book a sleigh ride to get into the holiday spirit. An advance notice of 24 hours is necessary for reservations.
