The unincorporated community of Buford is located in northwestern Colorado along the Flat Tops Byway. It’s situated about thirty minutes drive east of Meeker on the rural County Road 8.
Buford is resides in Rio Blanco County. Yampa lies on the opposite side of the Flat Tops Byway, sixty miles from Buford.
History
The town was named for an American Civil War officer, John Buford. There was a Buford Post Office from 1890 to 1961.
