As the vintage steam train leaves Durango and Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad Station, your magical and classical holiday journey into Christmas Eve begins. Once aboard the Polar Express Train Ride, you and your family will be swept away into an elaborate holiday fantasy complete with hot chocolate, a light show, holiday music, and, of course, Santa.
Based on the popular book by Chris Van Allsburg, the adventure runs daily from November 22nd, 2024 to January 1st, 2025. Dress for winter weather and plan for a grand 2-hour adventure. The train ride lasts approximately 65 minutes and you can even come in your PJs if you like, but make sure you layer up to enjoy the outdoor North Pole attractions before and after the ride.
There are 3 seating classes:
- Premium First Class includes table and chair seating in the historic first-class railcar, as well as a complimentary take-home item for each ticketholder.
- Deluxe Class allows groups to face one another in flip-over seating and also features a complimentary take-home item.
- Standard Class Coach ticketholders will be in a classic, front-facing seat.
There are typically three departures per evening, at 5:15 pm, 6:50 pm, and 8:25 pm, though sometimes only two are scheduled. Anything goes to make this train ride a holiday adventure you will never forget. Tickets for The Polar Express are sold online and must be purchased well in advance.
If you can’t make it this season, consider another train ride on the Durango & Silverton NGRR.
