Red Bull is notorious for hosting events that are innovative and adventurous and may even claim to give you wings. This year’s Red Bull Schlittentag in Keystone is sure to be an event to remember. Schlittentag is the German word for “Sledding day.”

The event takes place on April 2, 2016 at Lower Haywood at Mountain House Base Area. Contestants race down a snow-packed hill on homemade sleds. Red Bull does not allow prefabricated sleds of any kind so it allows for a lot of creativity.

The sleds and team names are themed, which is why you will see many people in costume. Whether you are daring enough to participate, or just there to watch, the event will be jam packed with music, themed sleds and tons of fun.

Three stuntmen accompany the sleds. One is the pilot and the other two teammates push the sled to the finish line. Unfortunately, many take a tumble on the way down due to a jump or faulty engineering. Contestants will be judged on creativity, fastest time, and the distance thrown from the kicker.
