Get ready for a day full of water activities, a crazy river parade, and a retro rodeo. The epic Animas River Days in Durango is one of the most exciting kick-offs to summertime in the state.
This thrilling event that started in 1983 will happen once again on Saturday and Sunday, May 31st to June 1st, 2025 at Durango’s Whitewater Park. Watch skilled individuals and teams compete in kayaking, surf competitions, boater cross, and raft sprints. At the end of the contest, there will be a river parade and a retro rodeo for all the participants so they can chill out and have a good time.
Expect talented teams from Badfish, Liquid Logic, Jackson Kayak, Pyranha, Red Bull, Hala, and SOL in the professional category.
There’s a River Parade Viewing Party held from 4:30-6:30 pm at Santa Rita Park on Saturday night. Due to very limited parking, it’s recommended you use the Durango Transit Center’s parking lot at 250 West 8th Street and take a free shuttle to the park. There’s a live DJ to aid in the costumed festivities.
