Now in its 4th year, the Caveman Music Festival is all about the Colorado experience. Jam to over 20 bands and artists at Monument Lake Resort in Southern Colorado over Labor Day Weekend, surrounded by amazing scenery and people.
Hiking, fishing, boating, and unique lodging are on tap during this 4-day concert festival. Overnight guests at Monument Lake Resort can stay in lodge hotel rooms and cabins or camp in an RV or a tent. This year’s fest takes place from Friday to Sunday, August 28th to 31st, 2025.

Nestled amongst a picturesque evergreen forest, the Monument Lake Resort has an abundance of leisurely activities, like hiking, boating, and fishing. Or venture out further into the Sangre de Cristo Mountains for national forest and wilderness explorations. Favorite local things to do include:
- Boating — Navigate the no-wake waters of Monument Lake by kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard. A pontoon boat rental is an option too, with a 2 person fishing vessel or giant hosting up to 14 passengers. Or bring your own boat.
- Fishing — Brown and rainbow trout up to 8 lbs can be hooked on Monument Lake. Fish by boat or from the shore in this trophy trout spot.
- Hiking — Stroll around the lake and resort grounds or venture into the 368 acres of mountain terrain between Trinidad and La Veta. There are plenty of incredible day hikes to seek out.
Camping and Lodging
Need a place to stay? The best option is to stay on-site at Monument Lake Resort. Primitive campsites are available for tents and RVs. There are also cabin rentals and lodge rooms.
Other nearby options for hotels include La Veta, forty minutes to the north, or Trinidad, fifty minutes to the east, which will have the most selections.
