This is a rising suburb of Colorado Springs, located in its southeast corner. Security-Widefield combines the communities of Security and Widefield into one census-designated place.
The unincorporated community recorded a population of 38,639 in 2020. It resides in El Paso County. In 1991 there was a historic plane crash in Widefield. United Airlines Flight 585 was on its final approach into Colorado Springs Municipal Airport from Denver when its Boeing 737-200 crash landed with none of the 25 passengers and crew surviving.
