Coal Creek, Colorado | Gilpin and Jefferson Counties

Coal Creek is a tiny Front Range community hidden just west of Highway 93 in Golden. The “downtown” section of Coal Creek consists of a gas station/post office, coffee shop, liquor store, and a couple of businesses.

What’s interesting about this census-designated place is that it’s located within three Colorado counties: Jefferson, Gilpin, and Boulder. To the south of town, there’s an entrance to Golden Gate Canyon State Park. In 2020 there were 2,494 residents.
