It was named after a local irrigation specialist, Benjamin Harrison Eaton, and first settled in the 1880s. He helped bring water from the Rockies to the high desert landscape of the plains. Some of these systems are still in place today. He then went on to be the state’s governor from 1885 to 1887. Eaton was incorporated on December 5th, 1892.
