Eaton is located in Colorado’s northern plains just over twenty miles east of Fort Collins. It’s a small but growing statutory town, that swelled from 4,365 in 2010 to an estimated nearly 6,000 today.
The elevation is 4,839 feet and the county is Weld.
History
It was named after a local irrigation specialist, Benjamin Harrison Eaton and first settled in the 1880s. He helped bring water from the Rockies to the high desert landscape of the plains. Some of which systems are still in place today. He then went onto to be the state’s governor from 1885 to 1887. Eaton was incorporated on December 5th, 1892.
