Nestled amongst canyon walls where the Dolores River runs through, the small town of Dolores is the perfect home base for exploring the Western Slope of Colorado. While they are limited in number, there are a few neat hotels and cabins to accommodate adventurers to this southwest gem.

With the San Juan National Forest and the state’s second-largest reservoir, McPhee Reservoir, nearby, outdoor adventures are endless. But places to stay are not unless you are planning to camp. If you would prefer a hotel room for the evening, here are the best hotels in Dolores.

For the adventurous traveler, The Dolores Bike Hostel awaits. This bicycle-friendly abode in Dolores provides a gateway to Colorado recreation, including first-rate mountain biking, hiking, fishing, climbing and rafting.

This 4,000 square foot hostel has modern touches and a cabin-like feel to its rooms. Owners and siblings, Hannah and Jacob Carloni run beautifully renovated hotel.

There are a few different room choices, depending on your size and privacy preferences. Choices include 1 six-person bunk bed room, which can be rented out entirely, as well as 4 private rooms. One of these private rooms is a bigger suite with a private bathroom.

There’s working space in the front of the building, offering a coffee and snack bar. In the back of the lounge is a community kitchen. There’s a total of four shared bathrooms and four shared showers.

If you aren’t parking your R.V., then choose from 10 vintage motel rooms or five cabins, each with a view of the Dolores River. Five rooms sleep with one Queen-size bed and the other feature two double beds. Each room is equipped with a coffee maker, a small refrigerator, a microwave, and a TV.

The cabins feature a full kitchen, some stocked with cooking utensils and sleeping arrangements for two to five people. Cabins are spacious with outdoor decks, perfect for relaxing and enjoying the scenic riverfront.
